Job Description
UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) is seeking a qualified Project Management Support Senior Officer, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
As a key member of the implementation team, the selected candidate will support project delivery across various areas, including planning, financial monitoring, stakeholder engagement, logistics, and reporting. The role is suited for professionals passionate about operational excellence, with proven experience in project implementation and coordination.
Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation

Alert Project Manager on UNOPS policies, procedures, and financial rules.

Monitor project financials and advise on budget realignment and amendments.

Track expenditures, manage risk registers, change control, and lessons learned documentation.

Assist in project planning, monitoring of project quality indicators, and monthly assurance tasks.

Manage work packages and supervise Project Associates and Assistants.

Maintain project documentation for audit and reviews.
2. Financial and Procurement Management

Ensure all financial records are complete and audit-ready.

Enter and manage data within the UNOPS ERP system.

Monitor project budget, administrative tasks, and prepare budget revisions.

Process direct payments and advance requests.
3. Project Monitoring, Coordination, and Reporting

Liaise with stakeholders and support knowledge sharing.

Support operational logistics and team communication flow.

Education
-
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Project Management, or a related field is required.

A Bachelor’s degree with 2 additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu.
Certification
-
PRINCE2 Foundation certification or equivalent is an advantage.
Experience
-
Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in Project or Operations Management, especially in reporting, coordination, and implementation.

At least 1 year of experience using Enterprise Resource Management Systems (ERP), MIS, or data analytics tools.

1 year of experience in procurement, finance, HR, or administrative procedures.
-
Experience in humanitarian/emergency operations is an asset.

Previous experience with the United Nations is highly desirable.

Familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms) is a plus.
Language Requirements

Fluency in written, spoken, and reading English is required.

Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
