Job Description
The UNOPS Peace and Security Cluster (PSC) is a principal service provider in the field of mine action with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), UNDP, UNICEF, Governments of mine-affected countries and other mine action partners. It is led by the Director, who has overall authority and accountability for the performance of PSC on behalf of its clients. The Director is responsible for administering and providing oversight of the day-to-day management of the Project Field offices, both according to the client requirements and in line with UNOPS rules and regulations.
Duty station Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Head of Project Unit the Programme Coordination Officer will be responsible for the following:
- Stakeholder engagement & Donor Liaison
- Programme and Project Management
- Mine Action Sub-Cluster Coordination (MASC) and UN Coordination
- Proposal writing and donor reporting
- Information Management and Monitoring and Evaluation
- Knowledge building and Knowledge Sharing
Stakeholder engagement & Donor Liaison
- Monitor humanitarian and development trends and needs to identify potential areas of intervention within UN mandates and existing capacity.
- Support the preparation of information needed for official meetings, events, briefings and field visits and engagements with donors for relationship and reporting purposes
- Support design, coordination and dissemination of public information products and communication activities as well as gather and draft content for communications products and platforms.
Programme and Project Management
- Act as a focal point for and ensure the delivery of Financial Agreements (FA) assigned by the Head of Project Unit:
- Prepare project management documents for the assigned FAs as instructed by the Head of Project Unit, such as project implementation plans, work packages, activity monitoring plan, and project review and closure plans for review by the Head of Project Unit.
- Prepare the draft of high-quality donor reports, as well as relevant quarterly and final FA reports.
Mine Action Sub-Cluster Coordination (MASC) and UN Coordination
- Assist the coordination of the Mine Action Sub-Cluster and represent mine action at national Protection Cluster meetings.
- Attend coordination meetings of other clusters and sub-clusters (to collaborate on the development and implementation of joint initiatives (e.g. integration of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education in projects)
- Attend inter-agency and cluster meetings (e.g. Inter-Cluster Coordination Team, Protection Cluster) when required by the Head of Project Unit, and collaborate with and provide information to humanitarian partners, including UN partner agencies and international and national NGOs on mine action.
Education
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) with two years of relevant experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with four years of relevant experience
Experience
- Relevant experience is defined as experience in programme management, project management, programme support, project support, or business administration.
- Experience in using and developing project monitoring tools is desired
- Experience in using google suit applications is desired
Language
- Proficiency in English (speaking, reading and writing) is required
- Knowledge of a second UN or regional working language is desired

Contract duration: Ongoing ICA – Open-ended, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
