Job Description
UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) is seeking a skilled Programme Coordination Officer, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Project Unit to support stakeholder engagement, project management, coordination across clusters, proposal development, and knowledge sharing. This is a strategic role involving external liaison and internal implementation support across humanitarian and development contexts.
Responsibilities
1. Stakeholder Engagement & Donor Liaison

Monitor humanitarian and development trends to identify intervention opportunities.

Support preparation for official meetings, briefings, and donor engagements.

Draft and coordinate communication products and public information outputs.
2. Programme and Project Management
-
Act as a focal point for assigned Financial Agreements (FAs).

Prepare project documents such as implementation plans, work packages, monitoring plans, and review/closure reports.

Draft high-quality donor, quarterly, and final FA reports.
3. Mine Action Sub-Cluster (MASC) and UN Coordination
-
Assist in coordination of the Mine Action Sub-Cluster and represent the unit in national Protection Cluster meetings.

Attend relevant inter-agency and sub-cluster coordination meetings and promote integration of mine action efforts with humanitarian partners.

Collaborate with UN partners, INGOs, and NGOs in support of mine action activities.
4. Information Management, Monitoring & Evaluation

Support the use and development of project monitoring tools.

Ensure effective data and information management for timely decision-making.
5. Knowledge Building & Sharing

Contribute to institutional learning through documentation of best practices and innovative approaches.

Support training and capacity-building efforts within the team and with partners.
Education
-
A Master’s degree (or equivalent) with 2 years of relevant experience

OR a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 4 years of relevant experience
Experience
-
Relevant experience in programme/project management, support, or business administration is required.

Experience in using and developing project monitoring tools is desired.

Familiarity with Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides) is an advantage.
Language Requirements

Fluency in English (spoken, written, and reading) is required.
-
Knowledge of another UN official or regional working language is desired.

Contract Type: Local Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA Specialist)

Contract Duration: Ongoing ICA – open-ended, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.

Minimum Experience Required
🎯 2 to 4 years, depending on educational qualification.
Qualification
🎓 Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Programme/Project Management, Development Studies, Business Administration, or similar.
