What we do:
We build, acquire, lease-up and operate telecommunications towers that can accommodate and power the needs of multiple tenants. Our tenants are the major Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), and we serve them across nine high-growth markets (8 in Africa and Oman in the Middle East). Reporting to the Project Manager (Administratively) and Project Director (Functionally), you will play a key role in managing and assuring the quality of electrical and civil installations across telecom infrastructure projects. You will ensure that all project activities meet the highest standards in quality, safety, and compliance – particularly with regard to electrical design, integration, and commissioning.
Role Responsibilities
As a QA Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Leading quality assurance processes specifically related to telecom power systems, including AC/DC systems, hybrid automation, diesel generators, and ATS installations.
- Coordinating and supervising project quality plans to ensure rigorous adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reviewing and approving electrical design packs, including schematics, Bill of Materials and Bill of Quantities.
- Conducting site inspections to verify correct installation of electrical infrastructure, including tower power, grounding, and alarm systems.
- Managing subcontractor performance, ensuring all work meets Helios Towers’ technical specifications and electrical compliance standards.
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting electrical system malfunctions on site.
- Overseeing integration and acceptance testing of power infrastructure at telecom base station sites (BTS).
- Reviewing risk assessments and ensuring adherence to ICNIRP and H&S compliance requirements.
- Training subcontractors on Helios Towers’ installation standards and electrical quality control procedures.
- Acting as the main on-site point of contact for subcontractors and coordinating access in line with project schedules.
Requirements for the Role
To succeed in the role, you will have:
- At least 5 years’ experience in Project Quality Assurance with a strong focus on electrical engineering in telecom or infrastructure sectors.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in telecom site power systems and installations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional team collaboration skills.
- Experience working in a large or publicly listed organisation.
- Willingness to travel as required by the role.
- Fluency in English.
